When we are closed

The care out of surgery hours for this practice is provided by Brisdoc. This applies when the medical centre is closed i.e. from 6.30pm and overnight till 8.00am and all weekend until 8.00am on Monday. There are Emergency Primary Care Centres based at  Southmead Hospital.  These are for consultations by appointment only, (please don’t attend without one)

Home Visits are also carried out where clinically appropriate. You will be informed which centre to attend if the doctor thinks you need to be seen.

If you need medical help when the surgery is closed, please call 111.  NHS 111 is a telephone advice line and signposting service for patients with urgent health problems, but which do not need a call to 999.  After assessment by a 111 health advisor, if you need immediate medical care they can arrange for you to talk to a clinical advisor, see a Doctor, or go to an appropriate alternative health care service.

We count on you to regard this service as an emergency only service and if someone near you has problems travelling to the centre please help with transport. Please help us to help you by calling the out of hours service only if your medical problem cannot wait until the next surgery.

NHS Direct

In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call NHS 111 to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
