The new NHS App (www.nhs.uk/nhs-app)
The NHS App provides a simple and secure way to access a range of healthcare services on your smartphone or tablet. With the NHS app you can:
- Order a repeat prescription through your NHS account on the NHS App – the app lists all the repeat medications and so is safer and quicker. There is no need to call the pharmacy or drop paper into the practice. You can track the progress of the request, nominate a pharmacy for your GP to send your prescriptions to or create a token to take to an alternative pharmacy. It is v easy and convenient.
- Book and manage some appointments
- View your GP health record to see information like your allergies and medicines (if your GP has given you access to your detailed medical record, you can also see information like test results)
- Book and manage COVID-19 vaccinations
- Register your organ donation decision
- Choose how the NHS uses your data
- View your NHS number (find out what your NHS number is) – this is important for Anima connectivity to EMIS.
- Use NHS 111 online to answer questions and get instant advice or medical help near you
In time, we think more services will be available via the app.
To get full access, please download the app and register (there are links on our homepage and at NHS App and your NHS account – NHS (www.nhs.uk). The registration process can all be done on-line. In order to access all the services, you will need to take photos of your ID as part of the registration process. The registration process is all managed by the NHS so there is no need to contact the practice.
If you want additional access (to records etc) please contact us and we can view / change your preferences.
Proxy Access (access to your child or person you care for record)
If you require access to medical records of your child or a patient you care for this will need to be set up in the practice. We will need a form filled in (available below) and we will also need to see parent/carer ID in the practice when this form is returned to give you access. If your Child/person you care for is over 11 they will also need to sign the form. (If you are registered at the same practice as the child/person you care they should appear on you account with out the need to enter any codes so you wont receive a registration document for them).
If you and the child/person you care for are not registered at the same practice we can still give you access, however this is not supported in the NHS app and you will need to use Patient Access to be able to view records, request prescriptions etc. Further information on how this works is available by following this link Guide for proxy access when patients not registered at the same practice. (You will receive an email with the codes you will need to enter to link the child/person you care for to your account)
Problems with the NHS app.
If you are unable to use the ID process on the NHS app to link to the practice, please complete the proxy access request form above. We will need to see ID at the practice to be able to grant access so please bring this with you to show at reception when you had in your form.
Please see the links below for information on registration for online services, proxy access and other miscellaneous information. SGMC and CMC Proxy Access Guide Jul 19
