Sudden onset of vomiting and/or diarrhoea.

Norovirus causes viral gastroenteritis, which is characterised by the sudden onset of vomiting and/or diarrhoea. It is self-limiting and most people recover within one or two days. To prevent the spread of this illness, attending the practice while symptomatic should be avoided if possible. Patients will be advised by telephone to recover at home and to call back if symptoms persist after 48 hours. Anyone with symptoms of vomiting and/or diarrhoea are advised to stay away from work/school until they have been symptom free for 48 hours.
