Flu and Covid booster vaccines (Dec 21)

On Monday 29 November the Joint Committee on Vaccinations and Immunisations made a series of recommendations to expand the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme in response to the new coronavirus variant Omicron.  There are no immediate changes to the current Vaccination Programme in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) until we receive the national guidance on operationalising these recommendations.  In the meantime, please do not contact the practice until more information is released about how these changes will be rolled out. When it is your turn to be vaccinated, we will be in touch.

The Government has stipulated that covid and flu can be administered at the same time.  In order to minimise visits for patients, we will aim to run joint clinics as much as possible.  However, supply of covid vaccines and priorities are stipulated centrally.

In order to ensure clinics are full, we do send out slightly more invites than available appointments.  If you try and book but there are no appointments left, please bear with us and be assured that we will keep re-inviting unvaccinated patients as the flu programme progresses.

We are currently inviting patients for the covid booster (for eligible groups 6m after 2nd dose) and the third primary dose (for eligible immunosuppressed pts at least 8w after second dose).  Those that are receiving the third primary dose will be informed about the booster in due course.   Due to changing eligibility criteria and supply issues, delivering the flu and covid programme is far more complicated this year so please bear with us and be assured that we will be contacting you as soon as we can.
