We are working hard to ensure that all eligible patients have their flu vaccine while minimising the risk of coronavirus transmission. Our flu vaccine delivery is at the end of September. Guidance requires we prioritise previously eligible patients and those that have been required to shield. Those that have become newly eligible this year (household contacts of those shielding and the 50-64 years olds) are expected to be invited around December but we are awaiting further guidance.
Household contacts of shielding patients (as advised by the government) must provide proof of address at the appointment. Carers for shielding patients should register as a carer prior to their flu vaccine appointment.
Children in Reception through to Year 7 will be vaccinated by the school nurses. We will contact eligible children (those with an underlying health condition) so please do not book children into flu clinics unless we have contacted you as they will not meet the vaccination criteria and this will deny a flu vaccine appointment to someone at higher risk.
Our clinics will be held on Saturdays at both sites to help ensure good social distancing. To avoid queues, please arrive on time and not early. There will be dedicated slots for our high risk shielding patients at the beginning of each clinic.
The situation is changing daily and we will keep this statement as up to date as possible.
Jackie, Practice Nurse Lead.
